A Walk To Remember – 11:00 AM
Please join your friends and the greater Victoria community in support of the Little Spirits Garden, a community memorial dedicated to the remembrance of pregnancy and infant loss.
Summer So(u)lstice – 1:00 PM
Enjoy live ambient music in an outdoor setting, including Darya`, a classical Persian ensemble; Gwyneth Evans, harpist; Victoria’s renowned choral group, Ensemble Laude; and the traditional processional stylings of the Homegoing Brass Band from Vancouver.
Royal Oak Burial Park is proud of our new project, Little Spirits Garden inconjunction with the Saanich Legacy Foundation.
The Little Spirits Garden will be located at one of the highest points of land in the Burial Park. A wooded grove with towering trees, the site and its many features take advantage of a scenic vista and will also give privacy to families and visitors at the site.
A simple pavilion will shelter parents and families who wish to conduct memorial ceremonies in remembrance of the loss of a baby. If cremation has taken place, the garden will have designated areas to scatter cremated remains at the site or in a communal ossuary.
The Board of Cemetery Trustees of Greater Victoria has contributed $50,000 to developing the plan for the ‘Little Spirits Garden’. The board has partnered with the Saanich Legacy Foundation to raise the remaining $275,000 needed to complete the project.
We are asking for your donation today to make this project a reality.
